Job Summary: 
Reporting to the company President, the Marketing Manager manages the day-to-day marketing activities and long-term marketing strategy for MacAulay Resorts. MacAulay Resorts include The Inverary Resort and Ceilidh Country Lodge. The Marketing Manager will also service Bell Bay Golf Club, Kildare Landing, and Ingonish by the Sea properties.
The Marketing Manager is responsible for the development of all aspects of an integrated plan including brand management, traditional and digital marketing, content marketing and social media. The Manager is expected to work independently and must also be capable of working as team player.
This is a transitional time for Cape Breton Resorts as we continue work our way through the COVID pandemic and realign strategies and plans to respond to challenges and take advantage of new opportunities. At the same time, we are continuing to expand our portfolio with a major property expansion at the Inverary Resort and increased competitiveness with new experience development.
This position will be based out of Baddeck and will require the flexibility to work evenings, nights and weekends as required.

Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • In conjunction with key personnel, develop and manage marketing strategy, including brand, sales, content and social media strategies, ensuring increased online traffic, sales, brand loyalty, and improved market share while maintaining alignment with company objectives, targets, and goals
  • Develop, launch and manage new products, packages, experiences and marketing materials and corresponding campaigns and sales activities, while providing a forecast of sales volume and subsequently evaluating and reporting on effectiveness
  • Manage relationships and contracts with external suppliers, strategic partners, and agencies and maintain effective internal communications to ensure strategies and their respective messaging are harmoniously implemented both externally and internally
  • Manage company online reputation, including online travel agencies, review sites, social media account, etc.
  • Ensure that the defined marketing budget is met.
  • Manage company websites’ redesign, maximizing usability through design and creative content, continue to track conversion rates, and provide ad-hoc copywriting
  • Frequently research and evaluate customer tendencies, market conditions, competitor data, new technologies, and industry trends and best practices in conjunction with other key personnel through website activity, review sites, and search engine analytics, etc.
  • Create a content marketing calendar to maintain an organized distribution of material and to maximize visibility and engagement
  • Ensure website search engine optimization is comprehensive, relevant, and effective
  • Create articles around targeted keywords identified by the web provider
  • Be continually aware of and employ the highest standards of respect and professionalism across all departments
  • Be continually aware of and enforce the highest standards of personal hygiene and uniform
  • Promote and maintain a safe and health work environment, adhering to the legislation set out by Occupational Health and Safety and other Food Safety and related regulations, and implementing and maintaining effective operating procedures
  • Attend meetings and training courses as required
  • Any other duties as required
  • Bachelor degree or College diploma from a recognized institution in business, marketing or public relations. A combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.
  • (5) years’ experience in a marketing role
  • Experience with a Tourism or Hospitality business an asset
  • Photography skills synonymous with capturing and creating content a definite asset
  • Experience working with Wordpress websites, Facebook and Instagram Business pages
  • Superior communication in the English language both verbally and in writing
  • Passion for creativity and innovation with the ability to put ideas into action
  • Ability to work well under pressure, manage time and prioritize effectively
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
  • Negotiation and objection management skills
  • Computer literate, including superior experience with MS Word, Excel and e-mail.
  • Experience with graphic design packages and developing digital creative assets is considered a major asset.
