                                       Director of Sales and Marketing

Planning and overseeing the sales effort of the hotel, specifically accountable for the achievement of targeted room revenues through developing and executing a focused sales and marketing strategy.
Direct and manage all sales training, yearly sales targets, sales quotas, the incentive plan and all other corporate and hotel learning.
Collect market and competitive intelligence to assess and implement strategy and long term goals.
Evaluate and initiate opportunities for developing new sources of business in all market segments and thereby broaden the account base.
Demonstrate a positive role model image; provide overall direction, leadership, training and development to all associates.
Develop and manage the annual marketing plan.
Prepare the annual Sales Plan and have input on the rooms revenue budget and departmental operation budget.
Develop and expand exclusive promotional partnerships with area companies and special events to maximize hotel exposure and revenue opportunities
Assist with the direction and implementation on internal marketing campaigns that integrate employee knowledge and support for property marketing
Independently responsible for achievement of sales activities and all objectives outlined in the Sales Plan.
Set parameters for rate quotes and for negotiating group room’s contracts.
Responsible for day-to-day duties of prospecting accounts, developing new business, site inspections and proper Fosse account management practices and follow through on all potential business.
Event management, ensure the creation, managment and execusion of meeting sbooked at the hotel.
Participate in sites, fams, and industry trade shows.
Schedule effective business trips and appointments within assigned markets.
Prepare and submit plans, budgets, monthly progress reports, forecasts and annual sales reports.
Develop and conduct sales campaigns, as well as marketing and promotional plans.
Communicate, support, and demonstrate the philosophy, culture, vision, values and branding of Residence Inn by Marriott hotels in all aspects of sales and marketing.
Develop and ensure all written communication, sales and marketing materials and web site content meet branding and hotels standards.
 
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
 
This position requires a captivating personality with a solid selling technique and a minimum of five years previous Sales Management experience.
Previous experience as a Director of Sales and Marketing an asset.
Must be goals and results oriented with ability to be flexible.
Excellent communications skills- interpersonal, written and public/media relations.
Ability to understand and interpret financial data.
An established involvement with and leadership of revenue management theory and practice required.
Must be a creative leader with impeccable professionalism possessing strong administrative skills.
Superior negotiating skills, decision making capabilities, resourcefulness to conduct independent research and gather information to fully understand your market.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Ability to handle conflict and resolve problem situations in a level-headed manner while demonstrating customer service skills.
Recognized for attention to details, outside the box thinking combined with a high level of accuracy.
Must have own vehicle and be able to travel as required and work flexible hours and days.
Performs all other duties as assigned by General Manager.
