SECURITY TEAM LEAD
 
Events East Group is now inviting applications for the position of Security Team Lead with our Event East Security team. This position provides leadership support to a team of professionals who are accountable for ensuring the security of our managed facilities and safety of our clients and event guests.  The Security team are responsible for routine security checks to safeguard our buildings, equipment, and grounds.  This includes monitoring surveillance cameras, maintaining site access control, participating in site foot patrol and providing relief for team members at our various security and reception posts, along with other positions as assigned.
 
The Security Shift Supervisor is responsible for the security operations team at the Halifax Convention Centre (HCC) while they are on shift in order to ensure guest, attendee, employee and venue safety, with an emphasis on security oversight and services during event activity. This role also supports the Security Supervisor on a day to day basis, as required, and takes on additional responsibility in the Security Supervisor’s absence.  In this role, you’ll work closely with other operational teams to deliver security services in a respectful and professional manner that aligns with event requirements and the overall venue guest experience standards. This role ensures a safe and secure environment is maintained with a view to delivering optimal security services to guests and staff.
 
 
What we’re looking for:  
  • 5 years of experience in security industry; including some supervisory experience
  • Exceptional customer service skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Proven ability to act decisively in challenging or stressful situations; listen effectively and to follow instructions; and to speak effectively and to provide clear directions
  • Strong communication skills (oral, written, telephone), read and write in English fluently and in a professional manner
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and work efficiently and effectively under pressure
  • Experience in the event or hospitality industry would be considered an asset
  • Clean safety record
  • Fluent knowledge of Computer Skills (Word, Excel). Ability to operate office equipment (copier, email, telephone/mobile device)
  • Familiarity with access control software and camera monitoring would be considered an asset
  • Ability to work flexible hours supporting events including early mornings, evenings, overnights, weekends and holidays as required.
