Reports To: Chief Operating Officer (COO)
The MTCC General Manager is responsible for the oversight of the MTCC facility and staff. As the senior leadership for the MTCC, the General Manager will lead several departments including, Sales, Catering, Kitchen & Kiju’s Restaurant, Tech/AV, and Box Office.
The General Manager will also work closely with The Hampton Inn Manager, and the Membertou Heritage Park Manager – as the three entities work closely to provide the highest quality experience for guests and clients to Membertou.
The General Manager will also work with other departments including, environmental services, building repairs & landscaping, marketing, corporate, and others as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible to lead operations of Membertou Trade & Convention Centre.
- Responsible for department and employee management and training.
- Participate and assist with hiring new employees, primarily direct reports, together with the Membertou Human Resources department.
- Responsible to lead all MTCC departments in daily operations, and develop annual planning to ensure growth for MTCC.
- Attend Director’s meetings and Membertou Band Council meetings as needed.
- Responsible for oversight of standards for service levels to patrons, for room bookings, rental rates, catering and restaurant service.
- Responsible for the management of the safety and cleanliness of the property, as well as the quality of products and services provided to customers.
- Responsible for development of annual business plans and budgets in conjunction with the Membertou Finance department.
- Responsible for quality assurance processes and internal control measures for the MTCC operations.
- Work with Chief Operating Officer to ensure all policies, customer feedback, and contracts are dealt with in a positive and professional manner.
- Work with other departments within Membertou including, environmental services, marketing, communications, etc.
- Ensure that all work areas are organized, tidy, clean and safe.
- Ensure that all health and safety regulations are strictly followed.
- Ensure that all company policies and procedures are followed.
- Ensure Fire Procedures are followed.
- All other duties as assigned to ensure positive outcomes for MTCC.
- Maintain positive relationships with Membertou’s Internal and External customers, ensuring transactions or information received on behalf of the Band and/or its members are kept confidential.
- Maintain and improve Membertou’s Quality Assurance Management System as it relates to job related duties and/or department.
- Other related duties as required by the Chief Operating Officer.
Skills & Qualifications:
- University Degree in business, management, or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5+ years’ management experience is required.
- Additional training or degree in related field considered an asset.
- Ability to work under own initiative and goal oriented.
- Accountable and a strong team player.
- Available for flexible work hours, based on business requirements.
