We are looking for a Hotel Manager/Assistant General Manager for The Hollis Halifax – A DoubleTree Suites by Hilton.  This extensively renovated 120 all-suites property is a market leader,  located in the core of downtown Halifax, NS.  The hotel is looking for someone with a strong operational background, with preference given to those with Hilton brand experience.

The Hotel Manager/Assistant General will report to the General Manager. We are looking to fill this position by April 1, 2017

Responsibilities:
- To maximize room revenue by anticipating and planning for market shifts; develop and monitor strategic marketing prospects; develop, implement and monitor annual business and marketing plans and participate in appropriate national marketing efforts.
- To oversee the guest service function to ensure corrective action is taken to resolve guest complaints and ensure superior guest service is delivered.
- To ensure that all Hilton Standards are adhered to while also creating a unique brand of its own.
- To measure effectiveness of broad-based marketing plans and yield management efforts to maximize the number of market segments reached, and to diversity the sources of revenues
- To develop and maintain rapport with key community contacts to ensure a visible presence in the local community
- To oversee the security function to ensure a safe and secure environment for guests, employees and hotel assets.
- To establish and maintain proactive Human Resources function to ensure employee motivation, training and development, wage benefit administration and compliance with policies, procedures and labour regulations.
- To develop and monitor the performance of financial and operational plans for the hotel which support the overall objectives of the corporation; to develop the annual budget and make recommendations for capital improvements to enhance the assets of the company and brand loyalty.
- To ensure that product quality standards are met in all areas of the hotel as it relates to the appearance, levels of maintenance and cleanliness, establish and maintain preventative maintenance programs to protect the physical assets of the hotel.
- To hire, train and provide career development for subordinates, conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to subordinates.
- To ensure departmental procedures are adhered to for all Hilton programs and to help administer all programs to achieve and exceed goals.
- To communicate, promote and maintain health and safety in the workplace.
- To recognize and celebrate employees when appropriate.

Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a management position within a hotel.
- Complete knowledge of front office/guest service operations, food and beverage operations including banquets, room sales and marketing, housekeeping and maintenance required.
- Understands the concept of developing business plans, marketing and capital plans and financial budgets.
- Has a proven track record in owner relations and has strength on sales and marketing and hotel operations.
- Candidate with Hilton Brand Experience will be given preference.
- Candidate must demonstrate the ability to work and participate in a fun, team oriented environment.
- Diploma or degree in hospitality or related field preferred.
