Summary of Position:
Scanway Catering is currently looking for professional banquet servers to work at the Four Points by Sheraton Halifax, where we are the exclusive caterer, as well as offsite functions. We have full time and casual hours available now through the busy holiday season. The successful applicant will be an experienced hotel banquet and events server, with a passion for the food and beverage industry. This position best suits a well-groomed, professional and customer service-oriented individual who excels in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Set up and service functions and events as scheduled, while ensure Scanway Catering service standards are met at all times.
- Exceptional food service standards and etiquette.
- Exceptional customer service at all times.
- Ensure all event set-ups are as per the event order.
- Ensure meetings, functions and other events are executed in a timely manner.
- Work well with culinary staff to meet all food & beverage needs of the client.
- Is mindful of food and beverage standards, ensuring that all food being served is as per the event order.
- Foster a team environment at all times.
- Ability to work late nights or weekends as required.
- Ability to have a flexible work schedule.
- Ability to sometimes work off-site events with Scanway (transportation is provided).
- Ensure health & safety standards are complied with at all times.
- Other duties as required
Requirements:
- Experience in a hotel banquet department or similar serving environment.
- Experience setting up functions and events as a banquet porter.
- Ability to operate efficiently and professionally in a fast-paced environment.
- ServSafe and Responsible Beverage Service courses would be an asset.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Team player.
- Well-groomed and professional attire.
- Flexibility, long hours and weekends will be required.
- Physical requirements: must be able to lift 25 lbs
