Trade Centre Limited (TCL), a provincial crown corporation which manages the Scotiabank Centre, Ticket Atlantic, the World Trade & Convention Centre, as well as planning for the new Halifax Convention Centre opening in 2017, is now recruiting qualified individuals to join our team as a Maintenance Technician.
 
Under the direction of the Building Services Supervisor, this role assists the Property Services team with general maintenance duties across all facilities and provides supervision of external contract staff on various maintenance and project activities such as snow removal, general labour, and post-event cleaning.

What you’ll do:
  • Interior/exterior painting, as well as staging setup/teardown.
  • Minor building maintenance/repair (i.e. walls, doors, ceiling tiles, carpets, lights, fixtures, electrical plates, etc.)
  • Cable running for surveillance systems, door alarms, and computer lines.
  • Miscellaneous tasks/jobs such as carpentry work, minor masonry repair, caulking, cleaning roof drains, etc.
  • Assisting clients/tenants with hanging curtains, blinds, pictures, boards, furniture relocation, etc.
  • Seasonal work including holiday trees and lights inside/outside of facilities.
  • Maintaining inventory of equipment, supplies, tools, chemicals, etc.
  • Participate in regular OH&S site inspections, hazard assessments, and incident reporting where required.
  • Operation job-specific equipment such as Kubota, forklift, zoom boom, electric genie lifts, pallet jacks, Bobcat, company truck, etc.)
 
What we’re looking for:
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a relevant building maintenance role or equivalent.
  • Supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Must have a valid NS Driver’s License; experience/certification with cited equipment operation is an asset.
  • Able to perform lifting/carrying up to 50-100 lbs., bending, crouching, continuous standing/walking throughout all areas of facilities.
  • Must be flexible to work shifts spanning from 8-16 hours, which may include evenings and weekends as determined per event scheduling requirements.
