ASSISTANT SUPERVISOR,
KITCHEN STEWARDS (Contract)

The World Trade & Convention Centre (WTCC), a division of Trade Centre Limited and Atlantic Canada’s premier venue for meeting and convention services, is now recruiting a qualified individual to join our team as an Assistant Supervisor of our Kitchen Steward group in a 12-month contract role (full-time hours, salaried with benefits*).  Together with the Stewarding Manager, this position helps lead staff and ensures the cleanliness of the culinary department continues to exceed the Executive Chef’s expectations.
 
What you’ll do:
  • Work alongside a talented stewarding team to support premiere, world-class culinary events.
  • Uphold the highest standard of cleanliness for the kitchen department, with particular attention paid to kitchenware (china, glassware, silverware, etc.), kitchen tools/equipment, surfaces and service corridors.
  • Assist chefs to ensure that inventory stocking, waste disposal and recycling management, kitchen preparation/setup and other day-to-day requirements are met.
  • Collaborate/communicate with other team members within the culinary and catering departments.
  • Contribute to employee performance management and resolving issues in a positive, professional manner.
What we’re looking for:
  • 3 years experience working in a similar position / service industry (banquets, hotels, hospitals, etc.).
  • Demonstrated leadership experience from a supervisory role or equivalent background.
  • High degree of comfort/familiarity working in cleaning environments with a high standard of hygiene.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Previous experience in inventory management/control would be considered a strong asset.
  • Flexible availability to accommodate an events-based work schedule is essential.
  • A team player, driven to achieve the best, who understands the importance of setting a professional example.
*This contract opportunity offers full-time hours at a competitive salary and includes an attractive benefits package.  Extended employment may be available, pending further operational and performance review.
