Job Description:

Reporting to the General Manager, as Food & Beverage Service Manager at The Hollis Halifax – a DoubleTree Suites by Hilton you will be responsible for managing the “Wake Up DoubleTree” breakfast buffet program and lobby bar, achieving brand and property standards and goals. You will also be responsible for the management and delivery of the food and beverage service by developing a team of service oriented employees.  
  • Provide leadership for the Food & Beverage team and leading by example
  • Ensure high morale and productivity levels through staff planning, training, development
  • Work closely with all employees to achieve continuous learning & training
  • Focus on consistent delivery of Hilton’s Vision, Mission, and Values by all team members
  • Promote hotel policies and procedures;  support internal networks i.e. Health & Safety
  • General administrative duties:  scheduling, ordering, inventories, beverage cost control, food cost control, labour cost control
  • Hiring, training, coaching and disciplinary responsibilities
  • Assist with menu design and implementation
  • Attend management meetings
  • Working closely with other departments to ensure exceptional service
  • Answering guest inquiries in a timely and accurate manner
  • Ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the F&B service
  • Clear and concise pass-on communication with staff in the department
  • Contribute to achieving the loyalty of our guests by exceeding their expectations and providing warm personal service  
  • Greeting and seating guests, taking food & beverage orders, providing menu suggestions and up-selling menu items whenever possible
  • Maintaining cleanliness standards
  • Promoting food & beverage specials to guests
  • Settling checks with customers, receiving and processing payments
 
Job Requirements:
  • Previous supervisory experience is required, managerial experience an asset
  • Must be approachable, open-minded and possess excellent listening skills
  • Must possess the skills to quickly, tactfully resolve and defuse guest and/or employee concerns and ensure the appropriate follow up is carried out
  • Proven ability to effectively handle stressful situations, be receptive to change and increased demands
  • Demonstrated ability to train, motivate and develop team members through own experience and passion for customer service
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Strong organization skills, ability to multi-task, prioritize and work in a fast paced environment
  • Proven positive interaction skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong team player
  • Multi-tasking proficiency
  • Ability to work with limited supervision 
  • Positive and professional demeanor
  • Minimum of 2 years in a front line customer service environment
  • Previous F&B experience required
  • Micros and OnQ experience an asset
  • Must be able to work a variety of shifts inclusive of evenings, weekends and holidays.
