Trade Centre Limited (TCL), a provincial crown corporation which manages the Halifax Metro Centre, Ticket Atlantic, the World Trade & Convention Centre, and Exhibition Park, with operations well underway for taking on the new Halifax Convention Centre, is now recruiting a qualified individual to join our team as a Building Electrician
 
Reporting to the Chief Engineer, the Building Electrician is responsible for the construction, maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment at all Trade Centre Limited facilities. With safety and efficiency as a top priority, this position will ensure that the maintenance and repairs or replacement of electrical parts are completed in a timely manner in accordance with applicable codes and standards. This role also ensures the electrical systems, which include all emergency operating systems such as emergency generators and fire alarms, are in optimum operating condition and are updated with technological innovations in the field of electrical, energy management and computerized building operations.  The Building Electrician will manage a preventative maintenance strategy and maintain records to produce timely reports pertaining to equipment maintenance, energy consumption and energy management to the Chief Engineer.
 
As the successful candidate, you…
  • have a minimum of five years electrical experience in troubleshooting, new installations, maintenance of electrical equipment, repair of electrical/mechanical apparatus and construction;
  • must possess a valid Nova Scotia Certification as a Construction/and or Industrial Electrician;
  • have current knowledge of Electrical Code & Standards;
  • are an organized self starter who has a demonstrated ability to work comfortably within a team environment;
  • have experience working with Direct Digital Controls (DDC), Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) and Heat Ventilation and Air conditioning (HVAC) systems;
  • have a working knowledge of computer systems including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • embrace flexibility with work schedules, including an on-call component.
