Position:    Door Attendant
 
Position Overview:
Welcome guests to the hotel, maintain complete control of the front entrance area, keep traffic moving freely, unload guests’ cars and directs them to the parking areas. Introduces guest to the Bell Associate and opens door for incoming and outgoing guests.
 
Duties:
  • Assist guests arriving by car, taxi or limousine by opening the car door and helping to unload luggage. Extreme care and proper loading habits for protection of guest property should be taken when carts are in use
  • Maintain post outside front doors at all times
  • Keep front drive area clear of litter at all times. Keep any ashtrays outside doors clean at all times
  • Assist guests with taxis
  • Provide directions, maps and other information as requested, about the immediate and surrounding areas
  • Maintain a clear roadway directly in front of the hotel entrance
  • Know your role in an emergency situation such as fire alarm
  • Assist Guest Service Agent associates with check-in and check-outs, retrieving cars if called upon
  • Each associate is expected to carry out, within their capabilities, all reasonable requests by management
  • Valet parking cars
  • Other duties as requested
 
Qualifications:
Education
High School Graduate; Hotel/Restaurant education an asset
 
Experience
None required but previous hotel experience an asset
 
Skills
  • Valid Class 5 Nova Scotia Driver’s License with a clean drivers abstract and the ability to drive standard vehicles
  • Basic computer skills (i.e. typing)
  • Must be able to lift heavy luggage
  • Fluent in English (written and oral), a second language a definite asset
 
Knowledge
Knowledge of city attractions and local services

Physical Demands 
Lifting and carrying up to 50lbs.
Eye Strain (1 – 2 hours a day)
Bending up to 2 hours a day
